Erosion & Sediment Control — Work Examples

These field photos show silt fence, stone construction access, straw-covered ground, and filter socks. The examples show how erosion and sediment controls fit into clearing, access preparation, and earthwork operations.

Defining the Erosion-Control Scope

The approved plans determine the measures, locations, and installation sequence for each site. JDP reviews equipment access, clearing needed to reach the control locations, grading limits, and coordination with the other trades before starting its accepted scope. Construction entrances, perimeter controls, and stabilization each serve a different purpose and should be priced with clear quantities and responsibilities.

JDP supplies labor, equipment, and supervision for erosion and sediment-control work included in the written proposal. The GC or owner furnishes permanent materials unless included in writing. Design, permitting, independent inspections, maintenance, and replacement responsibilities must be assigned in the project documents.

Request a Project Proposal

For an E&S proposal in Richmond or Central Virginia, send the current control plans, site location, quantities, anticipated start date, and bid deadline. Identify whether the request covers initial installation, later stabilization, ongoing maintenance, or a combination of those tasks.
