Excavation & Drainage — Work Examples
These field photos show trench excavation, pipe placement, stone bedding, and roadside drainage work. They illustrate the access, material handling, and sequencing involved in drainage-related sitework.
Defining the Excavation Scope
For each proposed scope, JDP reviews the current plans, excavation limits, existing utility information, access, trench conditions, backfill requirements, and coordination with other trades. Pipe and structure installation responsibilities, bedding, compaction, testing, dewatering, and surface restoration need to be defined before pricing rather than assumed from a photograph.
JDP provides labor, equipment, and supervision for accepted excavation and site utility scopes in Richmond and Central Virginia. The GC or owner normally furnishes pipe, structures, stone, concrete, and other permanent materials unless the written proposal specifically includes them. Engineering, permitting, and independent testing remain with the responsible project team unless expressly contracted.
Request a Project Proposal
To request a drainage or utility excavation proposal, send the civil and utility sheets, project location, quantities, material-supply responsibilities, planned start, and bid deadline. Note traffic restrictions, haul access, and any known groundwater or existing-utility conflicts that may affect the work.
