A site is not ready for the next trade simply because the major piles are gone and the ground looks flatter than it did last week. Ready-to-build is a handoff condition, and it should be defined around what construction needs next.

For clearing and site-preparation work, that can include removing vegetation and stumps to the required limits, addressing debris and unsuitable material within scope, establishing workable access, reaching the intended grade condition, protecting drainage, maintaining erosion controls, and cleaning up the work area.

For excavation and grading, it means understanding the required elevations, tolerances, subgrade condition, cut-and-fill sequence, spoil or import responsibilities, and the areas that need to remain accessible while work continues.
